I have either lived or worked in Chicago for all 68 of my years of life. I am presently the President of DustCatchers, Inc. and American Barter Company of NW Indiana, Inc. I am President of the Merrilliville Breakfast Kiwanis and Lt.-Governor Elect of the Kiwanis Calumet Division. I am City Promoter on womVegas for this city, Chicago, and also the city of Aurora, Illinois.
Chicago is the third largest city in the United States with a population of 3 million people. Loving this city so much, I take the responsibility of being it's City Promoter very serious.
Chicago is actually made up of 77 different communities and 100 neighborhoods. I grew up in the Brainerd neighborhood in the community of Washington Heights.
What a city! We have over 200 theaters and over 200 art galleries. We have 26 miles of lakefront on Lake Michigan and 19 miles of lakefront bicycle path. There are 552 parks within the city.
And I am sure you have heard about dining in Chicago. We have over 7,300 restaurants and you hardly ever run into a bad one.
We have 4 nicknames: The Windy City, the City of Big Shoulders, the Second City, and The City That Works.
Lincoln Park Zoo, one of only 3 free admission zoos in the country, is visited by 3 million people a year, equal to our population. The Adler Planetarium was the first planetarium in the Western Hemisphere. And Maria Callas made her U.S. debut at the Lyric Opera in 1954.
There is so much more to share about this great city. I hope to be able to do exactly that within womChicago.
